A store's location are very important; it can make or break a store. CVS is pharmacy is located on Spring Garden St. I think that the location is good for students living on campus, but if it was me I would rather go to the Walgreen's just because it is a little closer to me. I think both pharmacies are equally expensive; it wouldn't matter which store I went to. As for location, students do not want to walk farther than they have to if they can get the same products at the same price. However, I think it a terrible location when it comes to traffic especially when you have people trying to walk to the store. The parking is pretty decent; it is not as nice as Walgreen's, but it looks like CVS isn't a place that have many customers. The major disadvantage is that Walgreen's is closer to the UNCG campus which is better for students without cars to get to.

With the current economic crisis America is facing there have been several bankruptcies in retailers such as Circuit City, Goody's and Linen's and Things. Circuit City was once the second-largest consumer electronics chain in the U.S., they are now at the point closing 155 across the U.S. and even exit 12 markets completely. Why are retailers facing such trouble? While there are many reasons, I believe, that there are some major issues such as over pricing, competition, and amount of advertisements.
The economy is doing horrible right now so people are more price conscious. As for Circuit City, the prices does not compare to Best Buy. Even though I don't even shop at both stores my family and friends always talk about the better prices at Best Buy.
As for competition, the only competition Circuit City has is Best Buy which is like the "new" Wal Mart for electronics. The first thing I think when I hear electronics is Best Buy. They have definately worked hard on brand positioning because all my family and friends shop at Best Buy.
The last thing I think went wrong with Circuit City is their advertising. I never remember seeing any advertisements for Circuit City. They really need to work a jingle of some sort; jingles work alot of times when your trying to get someone to remember your name.

Blog #3 VALS Segment

Ann Taylor
I do agree with the VALS Segment on consumers. I think that they are very accurate with our target person for Ann Taylor. The target market for Ann Taylor are women ages from 30-45. They carry chic and sophisticated clothing for the working women in the business industry. From business savvy pieces to everyday wear, Ann Taylor carries an assortment of clothing to equip the modern day woman.
The customers at Ann Taylor are definitely achievers. The women who shop at Ann Taylor are usually established right now with a family to provide for. They are extremely focused on their family and job, and are typically the bread winners in the household. They are power house women who are always up to speed on the latest trends and gadgets because to them time is money.
Another point to include is that Ann Taylor customers are thinkers. They are well educated and tend to dress conservative. Their main priority in picking out pieces that are trendy and comfortable because they are, yet again, always on the go.

Not only did the stores first year sales grew from $35,000 to $700,000, and also expanding at the rate of a new store every six months.

Blog #1 Favorite Retailer
My favorite retailer is Forever 21. I started shopping there roughly around junior year in high school and I am still a loyal customer.
I love shopping at other stores, but the thing I love the most about Forever 21 is that you never know what your going to get. I am such an impulse buyer that I am sure its going to smack me in the face one day, but at Forever I can never just buy one thing. Every time I enter the store, there is always something that pops out.
At Forever 21 they carry many selections from different style and trends. Like my favorite store, I am neither just set on one style. I am a social butterfly that always love to stand out. From punk rocker to country bumpkin, I do it all. Why limit yourself to being known as one thing when you can be whoever you want.
Another reason why I love Forever 21 is because the clothes are inexpensive unlike other retail stores I like to shop at. As for being an only child, I never had a lot of money to buy nice things. This store, however, makes cute and trendy clothes affordable for girls like me who do like to shop.
One thing I hate the most about other retailers is that they always have the same clothes for months, but at Forever 21 they are always constantly bringing in new pieces every day. I love the fact that they are always changing because I am the type of person that gets bored easily.
The last reason why I chose Forever 21 as my favorite retailer is because if you ever need ideas for a cute outfit you can always go on to their website and get ideas. They show you in detail what they put on the model and you can purchase it directly from the website.
